The mission of Amal Youth and Family Centre is to provide a range of innovative services responsive to the needs of individuals, families and communities. We are currently recruiting in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for the following positions:

Therapeutic Adult Support Worker(s)

(Full-time permanent)

Therapeutic Adult Support Workers are responsible for the care, support and supervision of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They engage in relational practice in the life space to create healing environments and promote growth and skill development. Specific duties and responsibilities include implementing a structured daily routine; engaging individuals in social, recreational, and educational activities; teaching life skills and emotional regulation skills; working collaboratively with family members; de-escalating crisis situations; and assisting with personal hygiene.

Qualifications: The successful applicant(s) must be creative, innovative, self-aware, confident, flexible, and energetic. A diploma/degree in disability studies, child and youth care, social work or a related field, experience working with individuals with complex needs, including developmental disabilities, or an equivalent combination of the two is required.

The position also requires a clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RNC or RCMP; First Aid/CPR certification; valid Driver’s license and use of a private vehicle while at work. Successful candidates must submit valid proof of residency and proof of Covid vaccination.

Salary: $23.67 - $29.70/hour (includes Labrador Allowance)
