The Junior Buyer designs, develops and executes strategies for one or more product categories, and oversees day to day management of the business. By fully understanding customer needs and operating in a customer-centric manner, they are able to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable assortment. Keeping up to date with market trends, reacting to changes in demand, and collaboration with cross functional teams are key elements of this role.

What you'll do

  • Act as the category subject-matter expert and develop a broad understanding of its relative consumer trends, competitive and market analysis and banner executional nuances and requirements
  • Financial accountability for category performance, to achieve sales, gross margin and invent6ory objectives
  • Collaborate and partner with cross functional teams throughout the business, including but not limited to POD members, Design and Sourcing partners, guiding from analysis through to recommendation
  • Conduct extensive in-season and post season analysis, closely monitoring program performance, identifying opportunities for responsive in-season tactics and informing go-forward strategy
  • Plan, establish, execute & deliver on the full Assortment Plan process
  • Support the end-to-end Product Life Cycle for the owned brand assortment
  • Define and execute seasonal marketing plans for promotional item selection and corresponding offers, to deliver against the plans and financial objectives
  • Partner with the Operations to inform Visual Merchandising strategy and plans, as well as other applicable in-season tactics
  • Support product related content requirements related to Product Knowledge, Digital Channels etc
  • Partake in additional tasks, initiatives and projects as required

What you bring

  • 3+ years category management experience and/or progressive growth in a relevant cross functional role
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business plans and initiatives that will achieve financial performance and operational targets
  • Strong business acumen skills; demonstrated expertise of retail marketing, consumer trends, and inventory management
  • Absolute commitment to delivering consumer-focused initiatives
  • Leadership skills and presence; highly developed sense of accountability, passion and track record for delivering results
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills; regularly influences and persuades key stakeholders
  • Creative and courageous, with the ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold, strategic moves in this rapidly evolving retail environment
  • Action oriented, and comfortable taking calculated risks to better serve our customers and business
  • Outcome focused, critical thinkers with the ability to analyze and visualize, to ensure continuous improvement across our entire business
  • Collaborative team players with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
