Position Overview

The Police Services Department is seeking to hire a regular full-time Senior Crime Analyst for the RCMP Detachment.

Responsibilities
In this position you will perform supervisory and complex work involving specialized statistical and analytical support of criminal investigations and the development of detachment projects and programs. You will plan, assign, review and coordinate the work of employees engaged in crime and/or intelligence analysis work, and assist a superior in project design and planning. You will also collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret a variety of investigative and intelligence information, monitor and identify crime patterns, trends and other factors, and prepare reports and recommendations based upon analysis.

Requirements
You will possess a university degree in a related discipline, such as criminology, economics, sociology, statistics or another discipline related to the work, supplemented by the completion of at least one or more recognized specialty analytic training programs or certifications, together with considerable knowledge of research, statistical and analytical practices, procedures, methods and techniques, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will also have sound knowledge of the criminal justice system, preferably in a policing environment. Working knowledge of relevant software (PRIME, Corenet, I2, CAST, GIS, Microsoft Office) and superior communication and presentation skills are required as you will provide presentations, briefing and situation reports, and present results, conclusions and recommendations verbally and in writing. You will also establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, including criminal intelligence partners.
Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience working as a Crime Analyst and who have successfully passed the RCMP National Test for Intelligence Analysts.

Compensation
$44.78 to $52.91 per hour
(Pay Grade 28 – January 2021 rates)

Hours of Work
Any 8 consecutive hours exclusive of a one hour unpaid meal break between the hours of 6:00am – 11:00pm, any five consecutive days of seven. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Additional Information
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
