As the Control Systems Coordinator, you will provide supervision, coaching and mentoring for staff engaged in maintaining and developing real-time SCADA/DCS/PLC process control systems and related hardware/software within the water treatment plants, remote lift stations and secondary facilities. Primary duties include:
  • Management of real-time process control systems, related field control devices and control system upgrade project management. Delivery of service as well as the maintenance of critical control systems.
  • Develop and manage capital and operating budgets.
  • Control systems planning for process growth, upgrade expansion and integration of existing system architectures.
  • Develop and maintain process control system networking architectures for related hardware and software.
  • Ensure that all real-time SCADA/DCS/PLC system hardware and software are maintained within their asset life to ensure operational control and monitoring of process equipment.
  • Collaborate and build strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Project Delivery.
  • Ensure safety and environmental policies and standards are monitored and enforced to provide safe working conditions for staff and equipment.
  • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of staffing, including hiring, training and competency development. promotions, and other related supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • A Journeyman Instrumentation mechanic/technician with Interprovincial Red Seal certification plus 8 years of related experience OR;
  • A completed 2-year Technical Diploma with at least 4 years of related experience. Experience must include a technical ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Related work experience in water and/or wastewater treatment plant process control systems that must include: service, installation, and implementation of control systems (preferably in water treatment, water pumping stations, lift stations, retention ponds and storage facilities).
  • Proven knowledge and experience in real-time process control systems, hardware, software and process control networking systems is required.
  • Training in areas such as health and safety, contractor management, Leadership management and environmental management system will be considered assets.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication with the ability to acquire new knowledge, skills and technologies and work collaboratively and independently within a team.

  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
