Reporting to the Manager Home and Community Care and in collaboration with the Supervisor of Health Programs (SHP) and the Community Health Nurses (CHN), the Supervisor Home and Community care is responsible for providing nursing care and support services to the general population throughout the life cycle to enable them to stay in their homes and to promote optimal level of functioning in activities of daily living.

The Supervisor Home and Community Care will assess the status of clients who have been admitted to the Home and Community Care Program. Develops, modifies, and implements client care plan based on the assessed needs of the individual and the prescribed medical regimes. The Supervisor Home and Community Care supervises, trains and manages Home and Community Care staff in assigned communities.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, plus five (5) years of nursing experience. A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience and one (1) year of related experience in home and community care are required. Graduates from the Nunavut Arctic College Nursing Program, who passed the NCLEX exam, and are enrolled in the Nunavut’s Graduate Nursing Residency Program will also be considered. Candidates must be eligible to register with RNANTNU. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.
