The Executive Council Office is the centre of excellence for the Government of Yukon. We are leaders in the modernization of government standards and processes. We provide central strategic advice to advance government priorities through policy development, communications, intergovernmental relations, Indigenous relations, major project management, youth initiatives, Indigenous and scientific knowledge science and by supporting the Water Board and the Commissioner’s Office. We also provide direct support to the Premier and Cabinet.

The Executive Council Office communications team is a high-performing group of communications professionals who value client service and service excellence. We are passionate about our work and support the communications needs of the department and the Premier while also providing corporate communications support to all government departments. As the central agency responsible for releasing government information to the public, our success is dependent on building partnerships with other departments and corporations and working closely with staff in ECO branches and Cabinet.

Our communications team is agile and client focused. The department is responsible for leading the organization through changing expectations and shifting priorities. As a central agency we operate in a complex environment requiring flexibility and a willingness to embrace change. We take a strategic corporate view of issues, consider the details but never lose sight of the big picture.

  • Degree in communications or a related field
  • Experience writing for various audiences
  • Experience managing complex issues in a communications context
  • Experience providing strategic communications support to a large organization

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Job Requirements: occasional travel within the territory may be required. Extended periods of time working at a desk including extended screen time working with computers and other devices.
