ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
In partnership with both the provincial and federal governments, the BC First Nations Justice Council has been entrusted with the mandate to transform the justice system to create better outcomes for Indigenous people through the implementation of the BC First Nations Justice Strategy.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Receptionist of the Chilliwack Indigenous Justice Centre (IJC) will report to the Staff Lawyer or designate. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming environment and providing the highest level of care for our clients. The Receptionist will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks. Confidentiality and professionalism regarding sensitive information is essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create a welcoming environment for clients and other team members
  • Fielding and screening telephone calls
  • Office systems’ administration including data entry, records maintenance and look-up, and report
  • Sorting and distributing mail.
  • Ensuring that the office is well-maintained, organized, and secure
  • Supporting the overall development of the organization and execution of the First Nations Justice Strategy
  • Open and distribute regular and electronic incoming mail
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks as required
  • Provide assistance with other projects and initiatives as required
Qualifications & Work Experience:
  • Education or experience in office administration or relevant field would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of First Nations practices and culture
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, listening and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Outlook, MS Office, and related business and communication tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Multi-tasking skills and ability to be flexible when priorities shift
Reporting: The Receptionist reports to the Staff Lawyer
Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Pay Range: $35,000 - $40,000 annually - salary will be commensurate with education and experience
Hours: Full-time (35hours / week); Mondays to Fridays
