Private Banking 1859 is National Bank's Private Banking & Wealth division, which offers unique, tailored banking, complex credit, investment management and wealth solutions to high-net-worth and UHNW clients and families. We are seeking results-oriented individuals who are highly collaborative and can strategically leverage our unique strategy, structure, and product and service offering. The successful candidate will be highly driven and motivated to win with a demonstrated track record of successful UHNW client management, a pipeline of prospective clients, a strong industry presence and an understanding of various complementary products and services to successfully leverage our integrated approach.

This position will report to the Leader, Ultra High Net Worth Clientele, National Bank Private Banking 1859

Your Role:

  • In collaboration with all other units of the bank (Financial Markets, National Client Group, Commercial Banking, etc.), develop and maintain relationships with UHNW families and centres of influence.
  • Develop a “Trusted advisor” relationship with current and potential UHNW clients at the Bank
  • Define and implement a strategy for each Ultra High Net Worth client and be responsible for its delivery.
  • Recommend value-added advice and solutions to Ultra High Net Worth families
  • Work closely with all internal and external partners in order to increase the Bank's penetration rate with UHNW families and monitor it
  • Co-ordinate wealth planning services with partners
  • Keep up to date on the latest market trends to confidently provide recommendations to clients
  • Inform clients of products and services offered by PB 1859 and the Bank
  • Grow the client base with a view to making profits and increase assets under administration
  • Manage all aspects of the client relationship and portfolio on an ongoing basis to maximize client retention and growth of assets
  • Create trusted, collaborative, and mutually beneficial working relationships, dedicated to the preservation and growth of client wealth


Competencies required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience, or master's degree in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years' relevant experience or any other relevant combination of experience and training
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices Handbook course (CPH)
  • Experience in sales and business development for HNW clients
  • Excellent knowledge of the financial industry
  • Knowledge of Taxation, Wealth/Estate Planning, and Insurance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Accessible, proactive, client centric, agile and accountable
  • Leadership, autonomy, perseverance, teamwork
  • Bilingualism (French and English), essential as you will be working with English-speaking partners

Preferred competencies

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charter Holder), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM)
  • FCSI, CPA professional designation, an asset
