The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is Saskatchewan's primary tax collection agency. The Division is responsible for the administration of several tax programs including Provincial Sales Tax, Liquor Consumption Tax, Fuel Tax and Tobacco Tax.

We currently have one term Junior Business Auditor position available in Regina. This opportunity will appeal to confident individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge of accounting and auditing principles. Working in a team environment, the positions support the audit programs administered by the Division.

The position involves examining accounting information relating to businesses, performing the necessary review, processing documentation and contacting businesses to provide information about how tax relates to their business. In addition, the position will complete audit tests, prepare written reports and provide explanations to taxpayers relating to audit findings.

To succeed, you will be a competent communicator, detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and an individual who thrives on applying initiative. The position will also provide backup for other team members to ensure adequate coverage is maintained.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through completion of post-secondary education in accounting, auditing or related experience.
You will have knowledge of:
  • introductory accounting, including accounting theory, standards, and practices; and
  • audit principles, practices, standards and procedures.
You will have the ability to:
  • ask clear, concise and relevant questions to obtain desired information, present findings and/or provide recommendations to others in a professional manner;
  • calmly listen, assess, clarify and anticipate problems and respond with options and/or solutions to co-workers/stakeholders/public who may be angry, confused, upset or uncooperative;
  • organize, present and record information in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner in writing which allows others to understand the findings;
  • input, edit, update, retrieve, maintain and format reports and correspondence utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software with speed and accuracy;
  • examine, understand and appropriately apply legislation, policies and procedures;
  • work independently and as a team member in order to provide quality client service and to build positive work relationships; and
  • prioritize changing workloads and identify and focus on priorities.

Note: An eligibility list will be generated from this competition and used for up to a six-month period to fill potential future permanent and/or term Junior Business Auditor positions in Regina.

Hours of Work : A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks
