The Ombudsman Saskatchewan and the Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner is seeking an innovative, dedicated, and experienced professional to join our team as the Manager, Administration and Systems. This is a newly created management position and will report directly to the Ombudsman/Commissioner.

The Manager, Administration and Systems position is responsible for a broad range of internal financial, administrative, human resource and information technology service delivery. The core responsibilities include: operational budget planning; expenditure management and reporting; human resource management; payroll and benefits administration; procurement and capital asset management; the development, implementation and operation of the Case Management System and reporting; IT systems and infrastructure; document and records management system; operational planning; and policy development.

This diverse and multi-faceted position will be of interest to candidates looking for a dynamic and challenging work opportunity which allows them to develop their managerial skills and abilities, and to play a key role in the organization’s ability to deliver its program delivery.

This position requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, processes, and controls, the budget development process, financial reporting requirements; knowledge of human resource management principles and practices, project management, information technology and systems development and administration; document and records management principles and standards; and the strategic planning process.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • a thorough understanding of planning and decision-making processes, as well as policy and program development, preferably in a government environment
  • have a proven track record in developing and maintaining professional relationships with all staff
  • have the ability to exercise sound judgement in situations involving varying degrees of complexity and ambiguity
  • have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences, including newcomers
  • mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • an ability to effectively use excel, word and access software applications at an advanced level
  • previous experience working with MIDAS and/or other financial/IT systems would be an asset
  • a demonstrated commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Typically, the knowledge and experience to achieve the above would be obtained through a diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, or related field of study; and a minimum of two years directly related financial and administrative management or similar leadership role in the provincial government.
