Job Information

As the Territorial Specialist, Wound, Ostomy and Continence, you will be responsible for providing advanced, tri-specialized nursing expertise and leadership to protect, restore, maintain, or improve the wound, ostomy and continence issues for people of all ages recommending, directing, and providing best evidence informed care. You will be expected to assess and then advise best evidence-based care within acute care, home and community care, long term care, and community health centre settings in the Northwest Territories (NWT), independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This involves collaboration, education and support with community, regional, and territorial health care professionals. As the successful incumbent, you will be responsible for providing expert care and education in circumstances with multiple variables that require concentration, judgment, knowledge, skill, confidence, and adaptability.


Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and five (5) years recent nursing experience in the care and management of wound, ostomy, and continence issues.

A diploma of Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence from the Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute, or certificate of Enterostomal Therapy Nurse from the former Canadian Association of Enterostomal Therapy, or certificate of completion from a recognized Wound Ostomy Continence program.
