Purpose

As a Director of technology development for structured notes and equity derivatives business, candidate will ensure Notes platform modernization is executed successfully, and ensures system, process, and operation controls are in compliance with the bank policies. Works with Front office users, Quants and technology partners in advancing digital transformation, build Apps, and retires legacy systems. Removes technical debts and remediates operational & regulatory risks. Helps with hiring technology resources and ensures the domain knowledge of derivatives product is retained, proliferated and coached.


Project: A Greenfield multi-year program to modernize and transform the global equity derivatives & structured notes business technology footprint with full-stack, low-code, cloud hosted platforms to increase revenue opportunities, improve operational efficiencies, and go-to-market velocity.


Accountabilities


  • Global equity derivatives technology team within Scotiabank Capital market is seeking for a seasoned technology director who will work with globally distributed equity derivatives businesses and technology teams to advance technology modernization at rapid pace.
  • Work closely with sales and trading, quants, control-groups, and technology teams to cover the whole notes issuance, trade and risk management lifecycle from initial technology design, business requirement, model integration, and App building on a low-code vendor platform.
  • Work closely with global banking markets technology teams, enterprise organization, and architecture to produce system blueprints, develop integration tools, and connectivity to downstream systems.
  • Responsible for the delivery of technology related initiatives, including product development, testing, deployment on to cloud and vendor managed SaaS platforms. Responsibilities may include in-house built trading systems, and legacy (Icarus, k2) equity derivatives system.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary projects to implement solutions and develop strategic plans to business problems. This involves planning, securing and scheduling resources, defining business requirements, building systems, and monitoring progress against agreed timelines, managing issues and risks.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, its code of conduct. Ensure the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Drives customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Build people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates GED Tech team by fostering an inclusive work environment.
