The Opportunity
The City of Grande Prairie's Corporate Facility Management Department is looking for an outgoing and organized Custodial Worker II for the City Service Centre.
Custodial Worker II (Established) occupies an established full-time position and who has successfully completed the probationary period. Duties include a variety of cleaning, garbage pick-up, set-up/take down of tables and chairs and minor maintenance tasks in an assigned building or building area. May require repeated heavy physical demand including but not limited to long periods of standing and climbing stairs.
As a member of the City Service Centre custodial team your responsibilities would include, but not be limited to the following:

  • You are able to prioritize work appropriately to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • You will work well independently and as part of the team.
  • You are reliable, pay close attention to detail and use initiative to perform your duties at the highest standards.
  • Your attitude shows passion to maintain a clean and safe environment in our facility.
  • You will safely operate and properly maintain all janitorial equipment within your care.
  • You will report any damage found while completing your daily tasks.
  • You will report on the quantity of supplies used and required.

You Bring

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License may be required depending on the building.
  • Minimum two years' experience cleaning and upkeep of a major facility.
  • Initiative and time management skills required to organize your own work.
  • Self-starting attitude with an exceptional service approach.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Tactful Communication (verbal and written) with co-workers and customers.
  • Responsible to ensure building security and customer safety.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks within established facility standards.
  • Certification in First Aid and WHMIS.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.

Monday to Friday. 40 hours per week. Evening work is required.

The rate of pay is in accordance with the CUPE Collective agreement, Custodial Worker II, and will be $30.86 per hour.
