The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) Entrepreneur Unit is seeking a creative and highly-motivated professional for the position of Business Immigration Officer, to provide skilled decision making and recommendations related to business immigration programs and entrepreneur and farm immigration application processing.

Reporting to the Manager of the SINP Entrepreneur Unit, you will:

  • Evaluate immigration applications against program criteria, including the review of business plans, financial statements, ledgers, sales documents, property assessments and evaluations, tax documentation and applicable regulatory and licensure documents;
  • Conduct interviews and negotiate agreements with program applicants, including in-person site visits to businesses across the province;
  • Collaborate in the development and testing of technical tools to facilitate application receipt and processing (including online application processing systems and databases) to support effective program delivery in coordination with legislation, regulation and strategic direction;
  • Develop and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues and a wide range of stakeholders; and
  • Diplomacy and effective communications skills as well as advanced writing and analytical skills in order to provide solutions and promote understanding.

The ideal candidate for this role requires:

  • An understanding of the Canada-Saskatchewan Immigration Agreement and SINP immigration programs and streams, as well as ICT and government programs and services;
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with a range of stakeholders;
  • Strong research, investigation and analysis skills to evaluate diverse information and situations to make well-reasoned recommendations; and
  • Proactive problem solving skills and the ability to identify creative solutions.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a combination of a post-secondary degree in political science, public administration, social science, commerce or related fields and/or related experience. The successful applicant must have a valid Class 5 drivers license.
