Ottawa Public Health operations are currently 7 days a week on a Monday to Sunday schedule working various shifts in the days, evenings and weekends.

JOB SUMMARY

Ottawa Public Health is responsible for providing public health programs and services that contribute to the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of the residents of Ottawa, in compliance with Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care standards, protocols and guidelines and other related public health legislation. In partnership with the people and communities of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Health improves and advocates for health and well-being through prevention, promotion and protection.

You are responsible for ensuring timely data entry processing and information verification of personal and confidential health information and related statistical information into computerised databases and spreadsheets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 12

Minimum of 2 years of data entry and verification experience working with public health and/or in a health care field or related field

KNOWLEDGE

  • Database software (Panorama, iPHIS, HCD-ISCIS) and their associated policies, procedures and protocols
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Computers programs/applications, technical office skills (fax, telephone and photocopier)
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
