Ehtseo Ayha School (JK – 12) – Deline, Northwest Territories

The Sahtu Divisional Education Council is seeking an experienced high school teacher for an anticipated term position beginning as soon as possible in Deline, Northwest Territories. Teaching concentrations will be in high school English and Social Studies, with some Communication and Technology Studies (CTS Courses). This position is also responsible for teaching Alternate High School humanities courses.
The candidate must have or be completing a Bachelor of Education degree and be eligible for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate.
The following criteria will be important considerations in the hiring process:
Strong background in teaching all levels of English Language Arts in grades 8-12, but specifically senior high English Language Arts at the -1 and -2 levels
Ability to teach Social Studies, electives and Career and Technology Studies as required
Working knowledge of the Northwest Territories and Alberta high school curricula
Ability to Indigenize content and pedagogy to leverage student success
Experience preparing students and administering diploma-level exams
Skills bridging students from secondary school to post-secondary options
Current and relevant professional development specific to high school and alternate high school teaching and learning
Able to integrate virtual teaching and learning as and when needed
Strong collaboration skills as teachers work together to improve student academic outcomes
Embrace strong connections with community and be open to engage fully in the rich cultural and extracurricular life of the school
