We are looking for a Controller to join our team based out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance & Product Integrity, the Controller is a key contributor to the Finance team, playing a critical role in establishing and monitoring internal financial controls with additional focus on Cash Flow Management. The Controller oversees the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, inventory and reporting functions and plays an active role providing guidance on forecasting, budget management and expenditures. This position requires someone who is an experienced and effective leader, has an ability to build strong internal and external relationships, is self-motivated and detail oriented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Full Cycle Accounting & Team Leadership

· Ensure the efficient and effective operations of finance team which includes 7 staff members

· Oversee the accounting, inventory and reporting functions. Accounting functions include AR. AP, Payroll and financial entries and statements.

· Responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timely distribution of the monthly financial statements; Interpreting and reporting the financial information and results to senior management and parent companies.

· Accountable for quarterly forecasts and reporting to Parent companies.

· Implement policies and procedures to ensure financial and corporate compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

· Manage all regulatory or external reporting to banks, audit firms, third parties and government.

· Responsible for annual capital budget and participate in the approval and procurement process.

· Review and approve of large inventory procurement.

· Develop effective finance staff; conducting performance reviews and salary planning;

· Work closely with management and leadership to provide support for analysis, special projects and financial projections

· Ensure the company’s financial internal controls processes follows ASPE

· Manage the annual budget process

· Monitor the cash management and cash forecasting functions

· Build strong external relationship with banks, government, tax & audit firms

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • CPA Designation required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four—Year College or university; or minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess 3-5 years of experience directly managing and developing a team of accounting professionals.
  • Experience working in an ERP system. Experience with SAP is an asset. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and oral form as well as listen attentively and solicit feedback.
  • Strategic and analytical skills to understand and use multiple sources of data to support the strategic plan for NWC.
  • Show personal initiative and demonstrate effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates team effectiveness, building internal partnerships, working with others, and shows respect to all team members
  • Occasional travel is required in this role.
