Functional Foods Lab

DUTIES

Reporting to the Director of the Functional Foods Lab, the successful applicant will develop and implement a technology transfer strategic plan for the Functional Foods Lab. Duties include working closely with the Lab and research program to recruit new industry partners by networking and actively seeking opportunities for industrial participation; applying research translation, increasing interaction with current industry partners; facilitating student/industry relations through internships and student participation in joint projects with industry; assisting in the formation of new industry partnerships, start-ups, services and other industrial enterprises or association; working with Memorial's Tech Transfer Office on MOU's, technology transfer and licensing agreements and generally working through intellectual property agreements; organizing meetings with existing and new industry partners; maintaining an active website for industry partners; forming part of the core management team for the functional foods research program, preparing reports of industry collaborations or as required; coordinating with the office of research and engagement in informing lab performance and output; and performing any other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in forging industry relationships or working in a food industry environment; graduation with an undergraduate degree in science to related food production or an undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master's degree in science or business. A strong understanding of university research environments and related funding processes; an understanding of intellectual property and research agreements are preferred. An understanding of innovation processes and university industry relationships to support innovation; strong demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, discretion, attention to detail and time management skills are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.

SALARY $57,146 - $77,923 per annum (Management and Professional)
