QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor of Education or equivalent, with a specialization in primary education (Gr. 1-2 level);
Experience teaching multi-grades and multi levels of student ability at the primary level;
Experience providing programming for students with diverse needs;
Training or experience teaching in the delivery of early literacy & numeracy program initiatives;
Experience utilizing running records for formative assessment purposes;
Recent experience teaching First Nations students would be an asset;
Extra coursework in special education would be an asset;
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships and work with students, parents, staff members, administrators, and consultants;
Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
Ability to work as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program;
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population;
Experience living in northern or First Nation communities;
Willingness to contribute significantly to the culture of the school;
Willingness to live and work in a small community.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Relocation may be available.
