About Us



The Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) is a free service of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice that helps you make or receive court-ordered maintenance payments when your court order is enrolled with the program and can take steps to enforce maintenance orders when payments are not made. The MEP operates under the law set out in the Maintenance Enforcement Act.

About Our Opportunity



As the Filing Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining the filing system in the Maintenance Enforcement Program office, New Waterford. Your responsibilities will include creating, classifying, retrieving and storing records as well as daily filing of documents and ensuring that access to information is efficient.


You will ensure records are managed as valuable assets from the time of their creation, or receipt, to their eventual disposition. This position provides excellent and timely service to management, staff and clients.


As a Filing Clerk, you will work under the supervision of the Coordinator.

Qualifications and Experience



To be considered for this opportunity, you have three years of related experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.


You have proficient keyboarding skills and a sound knowledge of general office procedures and computer programs, including MS Office, MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

You demonstrate accuracy and knowledge in understanding a Records Management system and up to date knowledge of the guidelines and schedules. This position requires great attention to detail and time management skills. Completeness and integrity of data is crucial to inform program actions and support decision making processes, thus reliability is also essential in this role.

You are self-motivated, can work with minimal supervision and can maintain the highest level of confidentiality. You exercise tact and diplomacy and have good organizational and communication skills. Judgement and professionalism regarding records management is essential, in order to safeguard security and confidentiality of government information.

Working knowledge of specialized records management systems (such as FileNet and STAR/STOR) would be considered an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
