Alberta Innovates (AI) is seeking a Senior IT Business Partner to support the team and organization with project and program implementation. The successful incumbent will be working directly with client groups and vendors while engaging with IT team members to support the organization and executing the achievement of the IT team’s goals.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Solutions the Senior IT Business Partner will play an integral role in the success of the team. The successful incumbent will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
Develops effective collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to identify and obtain an understanding of the business requirements and IT needs.
Develops project scope statements, budgets, project charters and project related documentation including status reports, and post implementation reviews.
Works with internal stakeholders to develop and showcase dashboards using data extraction tools and processes, showcasing and piloting opportunities for improvement.
Full cycle project management including:
Developing business cases and proposals
Defining requirements including; budget, negotiating resources and determining project schedules
Identifying, communicating and mitigating risks
Tracking and reporting
Effectively building and managing project teams
Successful execution of projects on time and within budget
Acts as a technical expert in the areas of; infrastructure, applications, systems, software development and testing, data processing, and programming
Encouraging and supporting the adoption of digital processes and technologies
Participate in evaluation of solutions (proof of concept) with businesses and IT
Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
Bachelor Degree, post-secondary or certification in Information technology or related discipline
Minimum 8 years prior Information Technology experience in a similar role and a broad knowledge of Information Technology
Strong understanding of Information Technology including experience working in a Microsoft Windows environment and In-depth knowledge of relational database design concepts
Knowledge of:
Data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications
Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform
System analysis and design, application development, deployment and maintenance
Relational database design concepts and database development.
Demonstrated project management skills with multidisciplinary, or multiplatform projects
Solid understanding and capability to create, manage and deliver successful IT projects
Ability to quickly develop strong partnerships between people in business and technical roles
Ability to quickly learn business processes, showcasing patience while learning but asking questions as to why things are done a certain way
Ability to translate what the business is saying and asking for into clear requirements that both the business and technical staff can understand
Ability to document requirements, business processes, workflows clearly using a variety of tools and methods
Strong negotiation and facilitation skills
Understand and showcase the ability to develop test cases and plans, test systems from both the functional and business level documenting issues, opportunities for improvement and basic “how to” scenarios
Ability to be a strong change advocate, but possess, develop and leverage multiple strategies as required when implementing change
Strong customer service skills and a "can do" attitude
ITIL fundamentals are an asset
PMP certification is desirable
