Full Description
Function/Purpose:
The URD Utility Worker - EL&P is a skilled work helper to assist on a powerline crew and for the maintenance of the Electrical Department tools and small equipment.
- Loads, unloads and distributes material over the working area.
- Graffiti removal
- Checking street lights to ensure operational
- Other Duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 plus four years related work experience
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Q endorsement
- Knowledge of the tools and supplies used in the construction and maintenance of electric lines including knowledge of the proper sequence of delivery of tools and materials to the lineman
- WHIMIS knowledge is an asset
- Standard First Aid plus knowledge of fundamental safety regulations and the necessary precautions to be taken on high voltage electric line construction and maintenance
- Ability to perform heavy labour in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to tie the proper hitches and knots
- Skilled in the use of hand tools as related to electrical construction and maintenance
- Ability to diagnose deficiencies and problems with tools and safety equipment
- Ability to perform minor repairs to tools and equipment
- Ability to understand written and oral instruction
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with others and communicate effectively with the public
- Ability to maintain neat and accurate records
- Ability to work flexible hours/shifts as assigned

Remuneration: $31.82 per hour
Hours of Work: 40 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday - 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; may be required to work some overtime when needed.
