Under the direction and supervision of the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist will primarily provide support to, and collaborate with, the Human Resources team to ensure efficient and streamlined HR operations and administrative processes to achieve excellent internal customer service; proactively build a positive culture and champion equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.
The candidate will provide a generalist and administrative support in various areas including employee relations, compensation, recruitment, health and safety, onboarding and performance management. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong written and oral communication skills, experience in an office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the program managers, assist with the recruitment process by posting job advertisements to job boards and social, identifying candidates, scheduling interviews, coordinating background checks, issuing employment agreements, and sending rejection letters to candidates.
  • Maintains, and coordinates records for employee relations related matters.
  • Support progressive discipline process including investigations, documentation, recommendations, and coaching/issuance of discipline with directors.
  • Provides administrative support to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Works with management to support all employee processes.
  • In consultation with the directors and program managers, support absence and leave processes including return to work, accommodation requests, and other absences.
  • Engage in projects to advance the People and Culture agenda in the areas of performance management, engagement, compensation and policies.
  • Partner with all departments to provide consultation for business processes and provide guidance on employee management.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures and participate in review and development of policies annually.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years in Human Resources
  • Work experience as an HR & Admin Officer, HR Administrative Assistant, Talent Acquisition Specialist, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting using various interview techniques and evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Innovative, supportive, highly driven and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Dedicated self-starter, ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to be tactful, practice good judgment and maintain privileged and confidential information.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet relevant deadline
  • University Degree or College diploma or combination of Education and Experience.
  • CPHR or CHRM an asset but not required
  • Previous experience in an indigenous environment is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in situations involving rapid change and/or simultaneous demands.
  • Exceptional time management and crisis management skills.
  • Excellent ability to build relationships with a variety of personality types.
  • Proficient use of various office-based software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), online video-conferencing platforms
