OPEN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
(2 YEAR OPPORTUNITY - SECONDMENT or PERSONAL SERVICE CONTRACT)

We are seeking a passionate and visionary senior leader to join the recently renewed and restructured New Brunswick Housing Corporation (NBHC), as its Chief Financial Officer in its Central Office in Fredericton.

The NBHC is focused on working with all levels of government, community groups, organizations, and the private sector to identify and maximize housing development opportunities while providing support through a housing strategy to positively impact New Brunswickers.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will lead the branch's Financial Services team. Specific duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Operational planning, setting priorities and managing staff workloads; ensuing compliance with government financial and administrative policies;
  • Overseeing the creation and maintenance of annual financial statements;
  • Coordinating the annual financial statement audit;
  • Ensuring quality assurance and compliance following Public Sector Accounting Standards;
  • Managing the budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and year-end financial processes; liaison with key central agency stakeholders;
  • providing strategic advice to senior managers and branch directors on various financial matters;
  • Overseeing the preparation of the required reporting for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation under the bi-lateral funding agreement; and
  • Ad hoc presentations to the Board of Directors.

Need to have (essential qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce;
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible senior financial management experience including a minimum of five (5) years in leading and managing staff; and
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a requirement for this role.

Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.

Nice to haves (asset qualifications)
Preference may be given to candidates that possess:

  • Experience in preparation of financial statements; and
  • Experience in working with an appointed Board of Directors.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirements are also required:

  • Travel throughout the province may be required.
