The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's goal is to support the sustainable development of the infrastructure in New Brunswick, which includes ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of people, goods, and government services. This includes managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, as well as planning, designing, building hospitals, schools, public buildings, bridges (subjects), and other related facilities.
What you will do?
The Assistant District Engineer will be in charge of Highway Maintenance Superintendent duties, which include:.
- Providing technical, supervision, and administrative support for highway construction and maintenance in a transportation district.'[
- Mentoring, oversight and guidance of technical subordinates.'
- Coordinating highway maintenance tasks through planning and scheduling, resulting in comprehensive quality checks on infrastructure and long-range planning for maintenance and capital projects.
- Establishing policies and procedures; managing the quality, quantity, or assortment of materials.
- Planning and evaluating cost estimates and designing field layouts for construction and maintenance projects.
Work environment:
- Office location: Moncton
- Operation hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m."

Essential Qualifications:
- At least six (6) years of experience in the same field, including three (4) years of supervisory experience, and a diploma from an approved civil engineering technology program of two (2) years in allied disciplines.[6]
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is also essential.
- possessing a class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
A comparable blend of education, training, and experience could be analyzed.'
