Conditions of Employment:

  • Should I be legally entitled to work in Canada?

  • Should be willing to undergo Marine Emergency Duty (A3) (within 6 months of hire date), WHMIS, Concealed Space Entry and First Aid/CPR training (within 1 year, provided).

  • Under adverse weather conditions, a worker must be able to work in the water and must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
  • Within the province, one must be able to travel by air, ground and water.
  • Without restrictions, I must possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Working must be able to work according to the ferry schedule.
  • Should be able to work extended hours, including overtime on weekends and holidays, plus statutory holidays as required.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment. "
  • Experience with building maintenance.
  • Ability to display initiative.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • How can I work as part of a team?
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired:

  • Ability to adapt and learn new procedures.

Duties:
This position is responsible for assisting the Captain and Restricted Engineer in the daily operation and maintenance of a registered passenger/vehicle motor vessel according to Transport Canada Marine Safety (TCMS) Regulations and any other applicable Provincial Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
