JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Orillia has an opening for a full-time position as the Superintendent of Wastewater Treatment and Pumping Stations in the Water-Infrastructure-Services-Division.
DUTIES
For division requirements, assume the overall responsible operator (ORO) role.
Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MOSTD), Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) and other legislative requirements including all environmental compliance approvals. )
Assist with the preparation of budgets and disbursements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and pumping stations. Monitor the purchase of wastewater treatment plants and pumping station equipment in accordance with city policy.
Supervise, coordinate and direct daily operations of the company. Monitor performance through annual evaluation.
Provide opportunities for employees to participate in training on relevant topics, including: business, health, safety, and equipment.
Implement, provide input and commit to the city's Wastewater Quality Management System.
Oversee, plan and improve the operations and process of wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems. Completing all necessary maintenance plans for immediate, short-term, and long-term forecasting.
Champion Change Management and apply change management methodologies to optimise operations, ensure seamless transition and an engaged team.
Participate in asset management including providing input and direction for the implementation of proposed works, prioritization of proposed works. Provide technical expertise on asset lifecycle management and implement recommendations.
Liaise with LMCE, EMCS and other regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and discuss various issues as well as the consultants, contractors and municipal water treatment plans concerning wastewater treatment and pumping stations to alleviate operational and capital project works.
As part of the management on-call rotation, attendance at meetings held in the evening and/or weekend is as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
possesses Wastewater Collection Facility Class II, Water Treatment Facility Class IV operator licenses Water treatment class II and water distribution service class III an OACETT certified technician designation. Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) certification preferred. '
minimum four years experience in a municipal wastewater treatment environment, preferably in an industrial environment. '
Proven organizational, communication, management, interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills. Strong team-building and leadership to see and coordinate work crews and assignments.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Messages and Teams. Strong abilities with SCADA systems, specifically iFix and Historian, and the ability to learn new software programs such as eRIS-Log, FlowPoint Cloud and various other commercial platforms.
Possess a valid class G Ontario driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle. )
A current and acceptable criminal record check is required for this position at the expense of an incumbent prior to commencement date.
