The Streets Planning Engineer is responsible for completing preliminary and detailed geometric design services, as well as routing and functional planning of new transportation facilities, identifying right-of-way for acquisition and disposal and evaluating traffic noise.

As the ** Streets Planning Engineer you will:**

  • Develop and review the functional plans for new transportation facilities.
  • Develop, review and authorize detailed geometric designs for new transportation facilities and improvements to existing facilities.
  • Review and authorize the geometrical and roadside safety designs of all capital transportation systems.
  • Coordinate the acquisition and disposal of right-of-way.
  • Conduct, review and authorize traffic noise studies for residential development.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of junior staff.

Education qualifications include : )

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A master's degree or higher in transportation planning or related field is considered an asset. '

  • Experience with geometric design of transportation facilities.

  • Experience developing routes and functional planning for new transportation facilities.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships between a variety of internal and external stakeholders (co-workers/consultants/clients etc.) : )

  • verbal and written communication skills. )

  • With strong presentation skills, the ability to present information to a variety of audiences.

  • Microsoft Office and AutoCAD proficiency. ) I agree:

  • The knowledge and ability to apply local and national technical guidelines and standards properly.

  • Experience of conducting traffic noise studies is an asset.

Conditions of employment:

  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicants possess a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure that the permit remains valid.
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) with Engineering and Geoscience Manitoba EGM.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license. Successful applicants will be required to provide a legal notice of the driver's inability to drive.

  • Must be able to provide a vehicle for transportation while on city business subject to the terms and conditions of the Winnipeg Transportation Policy.
