Job Description Summary

The WordPress Designer & Gutenberg Specialist will have the primary responsibility of creating, updating, and maintaining our WordPress websites, with a particular focus on using the Gutenberg editor. This person should have a solid understanding of the WordPress backend, a good eye for design, and be able to create engaging, user-friendly layouts using the Gutenberg tool.


What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)


  • Develop and maintain high-quality WordPress websites, focusing on aesthetics and content delivery.

  • Use WordPress Gutenberg editor to build, edit, and update website pages and posts.

  • Collaborate internal and external teams to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization's standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve layout issues and manage all configurable aspects of the CMS.

  • Ensure responsive design for all devices.

  • Ensure optimal performance by regularly testing changes. Conduct website performance tests and optimize website speed and performance using Google Page Speed.

  • Stay updated with the latest changes and updates in WordPress and Gutenberg editor.

  • Provide training and support to internal teams on how to use WordPress and Gutenberg editor.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For (Minimum qualifications)

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Proficiency with WordPress, especially Gutenberg editor.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with designers, developers, and other relevant staff members.

  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.

  • Prior experience as a WordPress Designer or similar role.


Preferred Skills:


  • Prior experience with graphic design applications (like Adobe Illustrator).

  • Experience with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.

  • Understanding of SEO and how to build traffic-driving content is a plus.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript and other relevant web design coding languages is a plus.

  • Experience in responsive or adaptive design.
