Role

Graduated Supports (GS) is looking for a leader to provide support and mentorship to staff in a direct care organization that operates five (5) homes for persons with developmental disabilities. If you have the competencies and abilities, consider becoming the Residential Coordinator!


This position supervises Home Coordinators who are responsible for Graduated Supports home environments, staffing and operations that effectively support GS residents.


Primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supervisory team development and mentorship
  • Quality assurance to ensure optimal care for Graduated Supports residents.
  • Adherence to licensing and accreditation standards – Some relevant legislation, policy and agreements include: Protection for Persons in Care Act, Licensed Supportive Living Facility Act, Dependent Adult Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, The Public Service Act, Alberta Union of Provincial Employees Master Agreement, etc.
  • Home maintenance, supply and resource
  • Performance management, conflict resolution, employee engagement
  • Recruitment, orientation, training of home staff.
  • Leadership and Supervision of Home Coordinators
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enhance resident care including: guardians, residents, Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee, Infrastructure, other direct operations, AUPE, Alberta Health, family/guardians, community agencies, community partners, and the South Zone Management Team.

As a key member of the leadership team, this role participates in decision making, provides input into policy development, is responsible for policy implementation and ensures Graduated Supports residents receives the supports they require at home and in the community.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Standard:
Directly related two (2) year diploma or a degree related to the position assignment (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Therapy, Community Rehabilitation & Disabilities Studies, Public Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, etc) and four (4) years of related experience.


Equivalency:
Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

  • Actively seeking feedback & incorporating the feedback to their professional practice.
  • Experience managing human resources, staffing allocation & 1GX practices.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable populations, with an expertise aimed at improving well-being of people with diverse abilities, promoting social change and building corresponding knowledge and theory
  • Strong teamwork skills, focus on developing the team while fostering trust, belonging & inclusivity of all members.
  • Effective at coaching & providing information & tools necessary for the team to be successful within their roles.
  • Strategic management skills with the ability to plan & prioritize.
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills. Ability to objectively evaluate all available data, perspectives, opinions and facts in order to reach the optimal conclusion.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
  • Well-developed communication, facilitation, interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, and conflict resolution skills

Salary

$2,665.62 to $3,328.30 bi-weekly. ($69,572 - $86,868 / year)

Notes

Hours of work are 38.75 hours weekly.
