Job Summary

You bring your strong analytical and technical skills to this dynamic opportunity.

The Data & Insights Office (DIO) is responsible for business intelligence and customer research, including integrating BCPSA data sets, and providing meaningful visualizations and analysis, as well as creating automated data feeds for the BCPSA, Ministry clients and Agencies, Boards and Commissions. The Business Intelligence team works on building the BCPSA’s capacity to make evidence-based decisions through the development and delivery of business intelligence tools and analytics.

The Senior Data Analyst is the Lead Analyst for a program, branch, division and/or medium to large scale projects. Work conducted by the Analyst directly contributes to the improvement of ministry or enterprise operations. The position undertakes fully independent professional data analysis and represents the ministry at partner or stakeholder meetings.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in a related field and two years related experience; or a diploma in a related field, and three years related experience; or certification from a recognized institution, in a related field and four years related experience; or five years related experience.
    • Related education fields may include Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty education as designated by program requirements.


Related experience includes:

  • Experience leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
  • Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution, assessment, and biases. '
  • Experience with machine learning, clustering and classification techniques to analyse diverse sources of data.
  • Experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making.'
