Job Summary
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse II provides quality nursing care to clients of NL Health Service's Opioid Dependence Treatment (ODT) Hub. Practicing through a harm reduction lens, responsibilities include providing nursing care to clients receiving Suboxone or Methadone treatment, offering immunizations, completing wound assessments, providing naloxone training, liaising with other services such as Communicable Disease and Laboratory Services, completing intake assessments for ODT, assessing the effects of opioid use and/or other substances, providing addictions education to other services when required, seeing clients individually, and provide support for families. The position is also responsible for providing consultation to inpatients with complex medical needs related to addictions and working in partnership with other professionals and community groups. Additionally, the position will be an integral part of a team that will plan for future expansions of ODT Hubs to include other substances beyond opioids.

Regularly moves or lifts between 5 - 10 lbs., occasionally moves or lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to push patients in wheelchairs over 50 lbs.
Regularly walks, stands or sits to provide care or to observe patients.
Regularly uses fine finger/precision work requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.
Visual concentration is required to observe a patient's behavior and body language.
Occasionally, required to drive to patients homes for visits or to accompany them to community agencies or resources.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing OR a diploma in Nursing supplemented by a Post-Basic course or CNA Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is required.
Practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Active certification in BLS.
Five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) years in addictions, withdrawal management, psychiatric rehabilitation, acute or ambulatory care psychiatry is required.
Knowledge of specific addictions approaches such as: harm reduction principles; trauma informed care; supportive counselling; withdrawal management; crisis intervention; caring for vulnerable populations
Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
Demonstrated communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
