Position Summary:

The Nurse Assistant/Personal Support Worker provides personal care to patients and monitors patient flow within the hospital, communicating effectively with patients, staff and families. Documentation in the electronic record is required for care provided. The incumbent demonstrates professional responsibility and practices actions consistent with hospital policy and procedures at all times.

Position Requirements:

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification from a recognized college/university or private career college or school board is required.
• Current BCLS certification required
• 2 0 years current experience as a personal support worker required :
• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of patient populations
• Experience is preferred in a hospital environment.
• The proficiency of a computer and excellent keyboarding skills is preferred.
• Past experience with the Meditech system is an asset.
• Working knowledge of routine practices related to infection control is required)
• Ongoing commitment to continuous learning:

• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Proven commitment to interdisciplinary team approach:
• How do I multi-task, prioritize and be flexible?
• Demonstrated ability to attend to work on a regular basis is required.
