SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Network Analyst II troubleshoots, supports and assists in maintaining server infrastructure and storage systems to meet the functional objectives of the city's divisions, both physical and virtual. The primary focus of this role is on providing day-to-day operational support with some project activity as required.

The Network Analyst II helps to support and maintain server hardware/software, and the city's messaging environment. This individual maintains datacenter operations by working with facility and hardware vendors to ensure timely problem resolution; maintains and utilizes operations management applications to identify faults; and provides reliable storage of data.

GENERAL DUTIES

Assists in reviewing issues and problem logs relating to data centre operations, initiates and follows through with resolution, maintains communications with I.S. and business leaders on network availability and outages.

In support of the IS team and other partners, Second Life provides second level support to the user community for server infrastructure related issues on referral from the service desk.

As directed, Assists in configuring, installing and troubleshooting data centre systems (including servers, SAN, backup stackers).

Assists in maintaining authorized user, issuing user IDs, managing password protection, setting up file and application and printer permissions for new user.

In conjunction with a network analyst, I test server performance statistics and make recommendations for improving server infrastructure. '

Assists in developing and maintaining support systems and end user documentation for various technologies and systems supported.

He researches and implements software patches, hardware changes, and other improvements to fix server infrastructure deficiencies as directed.

In collaboration with network analysts, I am implementing a data centre management application.

As directed, he assists in installing and testing server management software.

Performs system backup processes, disaster recovery tests, and loads tapes and disks for backup.

I can be required to provide on-call support for users.

Workers may be required to work extended hours, weekends and holidays to complete system maintenance.

May be assigned to an initiative or project requiring the individual to take direction from another unit manager or project manager.

Working conditions are in accord with the provisions of applicable health and safety laws and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

Performs other duties as assigned, which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job. )

QUALIFICATIONS

Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. University degree or college diploma.

One (1) to three years experience in infrastructure/network environments in administration and support.

Working knowledge of Linux and experience in client/server and operating systems including Windows (Server 2016/17). .

Experience: Supporting service and maintenance of server hardware, storage area networks.

Citrix and Citrix Cloud: Experience in supporting and sustaining virtual environments, including VMware.

Experience in support and maintenance of email technologies including O365 and Exchange Server.

Demonstrated skills in analysis, planning, and logical troubleshooting.

Working knowledge of networking systems (DNS, WINS, Active Directory), protocols and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, EMC, VoIP, DSL, TCP/IP, T1, 802.11x and Fibre Optics.

Have experience with antivirus software. Support and maintain it.

I know nothing about the ITIL standard. What should I do?

Oracle, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access are all relational database management systems. )

Cisco Unified Communications: Knowledge of a Cisco environment.

He must be able to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
