Mental Health Liaison Nurse
Temporary Full-time
Location: Sheshatshiu - North West River, NL
(PCN: 56556TMP)

As part of the MCRT, the Mental Health Liaison Nurse is working in a clinical capacity. This role involves providing doorways services and support for mental health crisis interventions within community settings. The MTNL also works with police agencies to provide emergency response services across the province through the Memphis Model, which utilizes police and mental health professionals collaboratively to address mental illness crises.

Qualifications:

" Bachelor's Degree in Nursing;
" Two years work experience in a multi-disciplinary Mental Health setting preferred; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
" Advanced Studies in Mental Health Certificate OR Canadian Nursing Association Psychiatric Nursing Certificate, or willingness to obtain within one (1) year of appointment to position;
" Knowledge of professional Mental Health nursing practices; community Mental Health resources and psychiatric approaches; foundations of practice in Mental Health and Addictions, including issues and impacts and theories, techniques and intervention; .
" Effective crisis intervention, assessment, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work with minimal supervision; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, other professionals and community partners.
" Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL),
" Valid driver's license and use of private vehicle;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory code of conduct and vulnerable sector check;

The following duties are included, but not limited to:

" Attend Mental Health crisis calls in the community, in collaboration with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, and provide assessment and clinical intervention competently and calmly to ensure a quality service;
" Provide walk-in clinic service to individuals who present to the department, Emergency Room, and Inpatient Services;
" Provide clinical services include screening, comprehensive assessments, treatment and intervention in the context of an interdisciplinary team; obtain collateral information from nursing/medical staff, family members, etc and coordinate with other disciplines and available community resources to provide follow-up care;
" This position will also work with the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACT); this includes counseling individuals and family members regarding behavioral modifications, system management, rehabilitation, social adjustment and financial assistance;
" Documentation of all patient contacts and outcomes is also required;
" Travel maybe required;
" May be required to work alone;
" Other related duties as required;

Salary:

The RNUNL pay scale for NS-28 includes an hourly rate of $33.44 to $33.55, plus Labrador Allowance; $27.

Hours of Work:

A fixed schedule of 7-5 days per week; shifts are variable.
