As the Leader, IT you will provide business and technical leadership to clients and staff by leading the day-to-day operations of teams specializing in development technologies or focused on specific client portfolios. Leaders will participate in development of Divisional workplans, redesigning business processes and documentation, managing projects and client relationships, developing and monitoring performance metrics and supervising IT professionals. Primary duties include:
  • Act as the primary contact between IT and internal and external clients to understand their varied business operations and needs.
  • Provide strategic advice and design and deliver business solutions that are responsive to and meet client needs.
  • Provide leadership to a team of exempt and unionized employees, including recruitment, employee development and performance management.
  • Research industry best practices and trends, assess current capabilities, provide strategic direction and recommend action plans that are in compliance with IT's vision, mission, values and strategic plans.
  • Lead a large portfolio of projects that require the management of IT applications, methodologies, technology platforms and life cycle considerations.
  • Manage vendor contracts including participating in the tendering process and managing all related contracted obligations such as costs, timelines and performance management.
  • Participate in the development of, and manage, an annual operating budget including resources and financial commitments.
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma in Business Administration or Information Technology with at least 10 years of experience; OR
  • A degree in Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Math, Engineering, Bachelor of Science or a related degree with at least 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience including progressive leadership and management experience leading groups of professional and technical staff preferably in the Information Technology industry is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Success in this position requires: strong strategic and critical thinking skills, financial and political acumen as well as strong leadership skills.
  • Superior communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence others is essential.
  • Ability to build, maintain and nurture relationships with other leaders are also essential.

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
