The Ministry of Justice is seeking an assertive, respectful, culturally aware individual to support our mission and values by providing conscientious and dependable support as a Juvenile Officer to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan in Maple Lake.
As a Chief Court Officer, you will be responsible for writing down the relevant appearance details and disposing of each matter before the court which forms the official court record, as well as maintaining an accurate list of exhibits tendered in evidence. Being thorough, analytical, and accurate is a key attribute required in this position. Your duties also include administering oaths, receiving ratification, and keeping accurate lists of witnesses.
Using the Criminal Justice Information Management System and other software programs, you will produce and explain court documents in accordance with the order of the court, applicable law and coaching support in this regard. [ edit ]
The environment in which you will work is potentially hostile, therefore the successful candidate must be able to recognize and respond to volatile situations appropriately. In accordance with your Oath of office, he said.
As regards to the various levels of court, a successful candidate in this competition will have developed their knowledge and skills through a related degree/diploma such as a human justice degree, police studies, paralegal course and/or experience in a legal environment.
You will be required to climb ladders, retrieve files and carry heavy boxes up to 20 kgs that contain documents and papers.
The Justice of the Peace (elected) must be in possession of a valid driver's license as you will be required to travel when covering circuit court and may require flying in small aircraft to some locations.
