IT specialist - system administrator.
Business Intelligence

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) will lead the coordination of the delivery of this service, building on CAMH's work on Speak Up, the existing national suicide prevention line in Canada. This project will involve coordinating with provincial and territorial partners, agencies and stakeholders to ensure the service is delivered by a three-digit number (988).

Position Description

The system administrator will provide central support for CAMH's business intelligence platforms, including data warehouses and Tableau, to maintain the integrity of data structures, report writing and visualization/analytics infrastructure, and promote and optimize data operations. All systems are monitored, managed and patched in support of CAIT's Stakeholders/Data Consumers.''

The system administrator will provide technical expertise and system support with a focus on maximizing technical investments and optimizing performance based on best practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain and administer the cluster's database and dashboard servers to ensure they are patched, tuned, and recoverable.
  • Support new projects, provide database solutions and support day-to-day DBA activities.
  • Manage SQL database products in production/QA/DE, UAT environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and data schema changes? **
  • The health data are monitored and analyzed.
  • For SQL databases, implement monitoring, auditing and alert systems.
  • How do I troubleshoot and resolve problems with SQL?
  • Design, implement and automate the appropriate backup and recovery architecture. )
  • Working with various teams for performance tuning and optimization, query optimization and index-tuning, caching, buffer tuning etc.
  • Perform capacity planning exercises to properly identify required hardware, software, and database configuration/architecture necessary to support application needs.
  • Create processes to ensure data integrity and identify potential data errors.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new production solutions and improvements.
  • Perform daily administration functions and change management in support of IT operations.
  • Assigned to support other duties.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience with high volume SQL database administration and in the following areas:
    • Replication
    • High availability (HA)
    • Load balancing
    • Query optimization
    • Schema design disaster recovery
  • minimum 2 years of hands-on system administration experience, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
  • Knowledge of ITIL (Infrastructure Technology Licensing) principles, roles and responsibilities of best practices for application support, including IT Service Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Incident, Problem and Change and Release Management.
  • Kelpie's knowledge of network infrastructure technologies, secured gateways and server hardware/environments. Application software such as middleware, application servers, web servers (execution), reporting services, business intelligence and analytics; data integration tools; workload automation; scripting languages; operating systems; web-based application infrastructure and architecture components; and application/performance monitoring tools.
  • DB performance tuning experience is required.

Salary Range: $38.21 - $51.54 per hour
