About Us

The Office of the Ombudsman is an independent office of the Alberta Legislative Assembly responsible for responding to complaints of unfair treatment by provincial government authorities, municipalities, patient care providers, and health professions and other professional organizations under the Act on Ombuds.

Role

Do you want to be on the team that investigates complaints of any administrative decision, recommendation, act or omission of the Alberta provincial government, disciplinary departments, agencies, boards and commissions? If so, what is your review of this office's work? Our office gives you the opportunity to research and investigate complaints raised by Albertans. Request for comment!

You will be involved in the office's transactional processes, complaint analysis and early resolution process. You will assist with investigations and conduct less complex investigations. A focus on building positive relationships as you work with various departments is crucial for this role.

Qualifications

In a related field, university graduation is required or equivalent:

A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and two years of experience, or an equivalent one-year certificate from a recognised post-secondARY institution with three years.

To be successful, the candidate will require to think critically and participate in a team environment. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral communication skills are essential. The ability to evaluate policy and legislation is important and experience with handling highly sensitive and confidential information is considered an asset for this position.
