Full Description
Concordia University of Edmonton is a community engaged in continuous and mutually supportive learning that recognizes the importance of academic knowledge, information literacy, understanding of indigenous peoples, international awareness and wellness. Concordia's Faculty of Science is seeking candidates for the position of Laboratory - Evangelical Coordinator (or Environmental Health Program - Coordinator). This full-time, permanent position will begin in October.
Concordia University of Edmonton is located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton's historic Highlands neighborhood. The Department of Public Health offers an intense 15-month program in environmental health, a graduate degree in Environmental Health Practice and a series of graduate certificates in Public Health (online delivery). The program includes classroom instruction, field experiences, and mentoring opportunities.
The successful candidate will bring both professional practice and academic scholarship to the programs, as follows : )
Responsibilities:

Teaching environmental health and public health lectures and lab sessions.

Prepares environmental health instruction and testing materials.

Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain regular office hours.

Takes an empathetic approach to students' educational needs and concerns.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.

Develops and maintains relationships with organizations that may offer field placements or internships.
-
The program maintains and updates program related tracking files, e.g. internship lists.
-
Assists in the development and distribution of program materials, e.g. promotional materials.

Assists with general program scheduling.
-
Participates in meetings and discussions on priorities for the budget, personnel, equipment, and supplies.

Assists with other duties assigned by the director.
Qualifications:

A Bachelor degree in Environmental Health. What are the courses to take?

Completing a certification in public health (Canada). Member in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Public Health (CIPH).

What is the minimum amount of field experience required to become a public health inspector?

Experience teaching at university/college level?
-
Effective communication skills and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member with multiple teams and various stakeholders.

Experience with Google Apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of educational technologies (e.g., Learning Management Systems such as Moodle), and an aptitude to learn other software as required.
