The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety offers an exciting career opportunity as a Director of Operations. This position will interest professionals who wish to assist the ministry in delivering a fair justice system that upholds law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan.

Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to provide exceptional leadership to a diverse group of employees and inmates. As Director of Operations, you and your staff will provide custody services to adult males under the Corrections Act. The facility consists of three -13 bed units with a maximum capacity of 39 male adult inmates.

The successful candidate will lead the development, planning, coordination and evaluation of operation and facility programming. He is responsible for ensuring that facility and community security and safety precautions are maintained, as well as the rehabilitative and reintegration program implemented using an integrated case management system to reduce Jenkins's rebellion.

You will provide leadership and supervision to about 25 full-time correctional officers, administrative staff and administrative workers, as well as about 20 part-time employees. You will also maintain the existing safety and security procedures in relation to human resource management, including recruitment and retention of employees."

Typically to qualify for this position, you will have a degree in social work or related discipline combined with proven leadership experience in the public sector. You will know of the Corrections Act and related legislation, public safety programs and evidence-based practices, policy development in a Public Sector Executive Agency (PSE), knowledge of labour relations and union management procedures.
