This employment opportunity is restricted to Inuit from the Northwest Territories who live in Iqaluit.

The Dietary Aide works in conjunction with the cook, nursing and nutrition staff to provide appropriate food and beverage to patients in a clean and safe environment. The position is also responsible for preparing and serving up healthy meals in accordance with regulations, policies and workplace procedures. '

AIDS care provides meals and snacks to patients admitted to the hospital, as a front-line staff for infection control, and is a key member of the health care team. The position also ensures that the food service department is clean in a way that meets the Certification Committee's standards. Other duties may include distributing waste and relining trash receptacles in accordance with sanitation reforms.

The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a minimum of a high school diploma and an equivalent certification as well as experience in a health-care facility or similar setting. This is a highly sensitive position and a satisfactory criminal record check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector check.
