A day in the life? What happened?
Unlike traditional classrooms, you will be teaching a combined grade K-1 class and so need to understand the individual needs of your class, including the seamless integration of technology. What are some examples?
Most importantly, you'll be committed to our progressive, whole-child teaching philosophy and be able to get students and parents excited about everything our school has to offer.
Because we are educators ourselves, you will also be working with like-minded professionals who are leaders in education. We work hard to be on the cutting edge, so teachers have the freedom of innovation in the classroom and aren't limited by standard curriculums.

What you’ll need:
- In masters of education (or master of arts in science)?
- Bachelor Degree in Education
- 3+ years of experience teaching in Canada at the elementary level (ideally grade K or 1)
- Experience in multi-grade classrooms and/or classes with a wide range of learners.
- B.C. Ministry of Education Certification (required before employment)
- Exceptional communication skills: face-to-face, phone, and email.
- Excellent organizational skills
- What are the best ways to improve English?
- Experience using learning technology (SMARTboards, iPads, etc.): What are some tips?
- Strong knowledge of Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom) and educational iPad apps.

Working Time:
This is a full-time, year-round position. Core hours are 7:50 am to 3 p.m., there's an occasional requirement for longer workdays and participation in open house events, but we know that life balance is important.
You will be directly answerable to the Pear Tree directors, Alexis and Paul Romani.
Salary & Benefits:
We offer a competitive total compensation package, with a starting salary of $90,095/year, plus benefits and a 2% annual raise.
