Your Opportunity:
The GPRH Obstetrics Department consists of 22 rooms; 18 Labour, Delivery & recovery rooms; 4 private room postpartum/antepartum rooms; 5 bed assessment/Ob triage area. We value providing high quality, effective, efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care for all of our pregnant, labouring, postpartum, newborn and perinatal loss patients. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for performing clerical, receptionist and booking duties for the unit. Your duties will include performing registration, admission, discharge and transfer functions; maintaining patient records and charts, scheduling patient tests and/or treatments answering telephone calls, answering the patient call bell system, and monitoring of unit and patient access. As the key point of first contact for the inpatient and outpatient areas, you will play a key role in fostering an effective team environment on the unit. You will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families, and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will be major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Labor & Delivery and Triage department. Experience in Obstetrical/Postpartum department. STORK connect care. Knowledge of computers and programs such as Connect care and Netcare. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
