This is a police vehicle fleet maintenance and driving work position. The incumbent will be responsible for transporting RCMP vehicles to and from service and repair shops, ensuring for vehicle maintenance and safety, and coordination of repair, servicing, replacement and disposal of vehicles. An incumbent of this class will independently review and make recommendations for the fleet, road test vehicles with reported mechanical problems to determine issue and type of repair and service required, and orders equipment for vehicles. You will also receive member requests for modifications to vehicle equipment, make recommendations to the Inspector for approval or denial, and ensure that all vehicles are equipped with standard supplies. Furthermore, you will make payment for vehicle repairs, review credit statements, and arrange vehicle insurance renewals and monitor warranty information. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by courses related to the work. Required abilities include operating vehicles to check servicing and repair work and to determine the general nature of mechanical problems, prepare and maintain files and records and to prepare related reports, maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts. Sound knowledge of City streets and traffic routes. Considerable knowledge of the rules of safe operation, and knowledge in the policies and equipment applicable to the work performed. Operating principles of internal combustion engines and automotive equipment is also required. Performs minor maintenance and repair on vehicles, as required. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
