Reporting to the Manager, Performance and Continuous Improvement, the Project Management Analyst provides branch project management support and resides within the Office of the Fire Chief. This role works with various internal and external stakeholders to lead priority projects/initiatives identified by the Branch.
The Project Management Analyst will be responsible for branch and area level projects related to strategy and operations. In addition, the incumbent will assist in delivering corporate, department, branch strategic and operational plans, work directly on reports, and develop/ optimize performance measurement processes. Through this work, the incumbent will be expected to formulate links between the Branch’s strategic plan and current policies, and cross reference functional issues, areas of focus or priority within the City of Edmonton.

- Manage processes for various types of projects (projects, initiatives and council reports). Projects could include data integrity improvement initiatives, FOIP and information gap issues and development of area operational plans that align with branch strategic planning documents
- Develop business cases into project plans to fulfill the requirements of the project sponsor(s) and the guidelines of project owners
- Identify and liaise with key stakeholders/SMEs to leverage their expertise for the project
- Develop and lead project teams (may include peers and staff from different areas)
- In collaboration with Corporate Communications and the Public Engagement Office, develop communications/public engagement plans as required.
- Deliver presentations to summarize project scope, execution and outcomes
- Provide timely and accurate communication on the project to a range of audiences using different styles (ie. written, verbal)
- Provide input into the development of corporate methodologies, templates, and tools for strategy/business planning, policy, performance management, risk management and budget scopes of work.
- Partner in the development of department/branch business strategies/plans and ensure alignment to the City’s Strategic Planning Framework
- Lead and facilitate the process for the branch by translating corporate direction into actionable plans
- Other related responsibilities as required
- A University degree in business administration, public administration or a discipline as required by area of specialization
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of: strategic and operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures and budgets; business case development
- Leadership and project management experience within a public sector environment is an asset
- Significant knowledge of corporate priorities, strategies and initiatives and associated timelines associated with the corporate reporting processes/protocols
- Significant skill and ability in project and process management, including the ability to effectively gather, synthesize, and analyze data
- Experience and skill in the use of analytics, and data intelligence to support decision making processes
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions of an advanced nature and ability to express complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively, verbally and in written format
- Ability to integrate strategic planning into operational practice
- Skills and expertise leading integrated interdisciplinary teams with demonstrated results in collaborative business strategy development
- Ability to assertively build effective working relationships and consensus with people at varying levels; demonstrated comfort working with and advising senior leaders
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement
