The Opportunity
Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Public Works, the Manager of Fleet Services provides leadership and strategic direction to the Fleet Division ensuring operational efficiency and that users have reliable and safe vehicles and equipment.
Accountabilities
- Work with senior management, internal customers and fleet maintenance staff to ensure the fleet strategy and service standards are met.
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure that the fleet maintenance division is compliant with applicable legislative and health and safety standards.
- Develop and effectively manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies within the division; oversee the purchasing and inventory management activities of the Fleet Services Division.
- Develop policies and procedures pertaining to Fleet management that enable the division to effectively respond to the needs of the user Departments.
- Plan and control maintenance activities, including:
Overseeing the maintenance and repair schedule both for in house and contracted service providers
Ensuring activities are performance with a high level of quality and safety

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible and diversified experience in a leadership capacity within a large, complex fleet management and equipment maintenance environment.
Successful performance in this position requires demonstrated abilities and working knowledge in: Business acumen; strategic and creative thinking; strong collaborative decision making; leadership; ability to engage and develop others; change management; and the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with other City operations and key stakeholders. The incumbent must be able to meet established deadlines in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.
