JOB TITLE ESSP Support Worker
REPORTS TO ESSP Manager
MAIN OBJECTIVE Human Service Support Workers work within the “Employment & Support Services Program, (ESSP)” team. These programs focus on engaging and empowering participants living with disabilities to develop personal, community and economic skills.

JOB OVERVIEW
Human Service Support Workers deliver Key Industries’s programs using resources that focus on promoting and achieving individualized employment goals that align with New Brunswick’s “Employment First” standards. The Key Industries program delivery model provides opportunities for participants who live with disabilities to explore and engage in employment, community connection, personal development, and purposeful activities that assist in enhancing each participant’s Employment Service Plan and personal life goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work with participants who require one-on-one attention.
- Assist participants with personal care such as feeding, brushing teeth, washing hands and face after eating, toileting, showering, dressing, lifting and transferring, positioning, colostomy and catheterization care and other self-care activities. Clean wheelchairs or commode chairs if soiled.
- Follow the Occupational Health and Safety regulations around communicable disease and handling bodily fluid. Occasionally may be exposed to contagious illness or unpleasant hygiene. Follow the ESSP Standards, Policy and Procedures on HIV /AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C Infections (Blood Borne Infections), in these instances.
- Plan adult-based activities for participants and incorporate learning resources to enhance each participant’s creative learning and practice activities that challenge participants to go outside their comfort zone to achieve greater autonomy.
- Complete documentation and report writing is essential. Document progress and complete reports.
- Work collaboratively with participants and the participants’ Case Management Team by communicating changes and progress. Must be comfortable discussing sensitive issues.
- Must be open-minded and work cooperatively within a team environment. This would include working and communicating effectively and professionally with all divisions.
- All activities and programs deliver must first consider everyone’s safety.
- Ensure confidentiality is always upheld in any situation and that participant’s dignity is a priority, all private or confidential matters, and information is only shared on a need to know basis.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Human Services, Personal Support Worker, Health Care Aid; two to four years’ experience is an asset
- First Aid and CPR

Monday - Friday (9:00 am - 3:00 pm).
