Full Description

Highways and Public Works – who we are

Employees at Highways and Public Works are responsible for ensuring safe and efficient public highways, airstrips, buildings, and information systems. Our collective vision is to make a difference in the lives of Yukoners. At all levels of our organization, we value leadership, innovation, teamwork, and keeping our people safe. Our priorities are to be client focused, to support our people, to build sustainably, and to advance reconciliation throughout Yukon.

This opportunity…

The Corporate Services Division of Highways and Public Works helps other branches in the department by communicating government priorities and providing central expertise in planning, communications, finance, supply services and First Nations relations. It also provides procurement support for the government.

While part of the Corporate Services Division, the Communications & PR Analyst position is responsible for providing a full range of internal and external communications services for the department as a whole. And the work our department does is cool.

We build bridges, schools and airport runways. We maintain buildings, plan ways to reduce our carbon footprint and build fibre lines to the far reaches of the north. We operate ferries, design highways and establish the rules of the road. But that’s not even the half of it.

Being part of the team of communications analysts here at Highways will never be boring. One day, you could be coordinating an inter-departmental response to a rock slide that closed the highway. Another, you could be spokesperson to media about one of our many multi-million dollar capital construction projects. The next you could be organizing and facilitating a public open house or writing speaking notes for our Minister to present in the Legislative Assembly.

If you’re looking for an exciting pace, a chance to tell compelling stories, and the opportunity to showcase the incredible work we do at Highways, apply now!
