BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests (MOF). Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization. Its goal is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the Market Pricing System through auctions of timber harvested from British Columbia’s public land. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles, forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management.

The Administrative Assistant provides support to BC Timber Sales headquarters management and staff, coordinates office administration functions, provides administrative support related to the BCTS procurement training program, provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial and financial support services, and coordinates the day-to-day priorities of the Director.

Job Requirements:
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- A minimum of one (1) year administrative, or secretarial experience.
- Experience providing administrative services to a senior manager and other managers, working in a confidential capacity, managing a calendar, making travel arrangements, booking meetings and appointments, and compiling files, correspondence and resource material.
- Experience using business English in formatting and proofreading a variety of documents and materials using desktop tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience using manual and electronic filing systems, preparing and managing files and documents.
Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
- A minimum of two (2) years of administrative, or secretarial experience.
- Experience or training with ARCS/ORCS and TRIM or EDRMS.
- Training or experience in basic accounting or bookkeeping such as: monitoring expenditures, coding and processing business expense forms and invoices, reconciling purchase card expenditures; checks accuracy and completeness of financial documentation.
- Completion of training in contract and procurement management.
- Experience in contract administration in a public sector environment.

This position is located in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to a few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
